Cottage Pie Recipe
Cottage Pie is as traditional as Roast Beef in British
cookery. Shepherd's Pie is made with Lamb normally, however,
nowadays everyone understands that it is beef unless otherwise
stated.
1 lb Ground Beef
1 tblsp cooking oil
1 med chopped Onion
1 cup hot water plus 4 heaped tsp of Bisto Granules
your choice Beef or Onion Bisto Granules
3 cups cooked, Mashed Potatoes
Salt & Pepper
2 cups of Cheddar Cheese (optional)
Heat the oil and fry the chopped onion until golden then add
meat and cook until brown. Pour off excess oil. Stir in the
Water and Bisto Granules, add Salt & Pepper to taste. Put meat
mixture into an ovenproof dish, smooth over the mashed potato to
cover the meat and form peeks on the surface with a fork. If you
are using the cheese spread it over the peeked mashed potato.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F for 45 mins or until the top
is golden brown.
